On April 25, 2024 we were driving down Coast Highway in Oceanside, bringing the kids home from school, when we saw a plume of dark smoke coming from the beach. We now know that the fire was coming from the end of the Oceanside pier where Ruby's Diner used to be. Oceanside fire fighters were on the scene within minutes, and they stayed day and night containing the blaze so that 93% of the pier was saved.
We ran into some of our local fire fighters near the pier a few days later, and they invited the kids over for photos on the fire truck. Thank you Oceanside fire fighters for helping us preserve one of Oceanside's most iconic features, and for always being bros to the kids!
